Our Environment

A rich and varied environment plays a fundamental role in early childhood education. From the highest quality, natural resources and inviting indoor spaces to our enriching outdoor spaces, our environment supports your child’s learning and development.

Outdoor play in inviting and dynamic outdoor spaces draws children in for exploration, discovery and a connection with nature. It is an arena for them to learn about themselves, others, and their connection to their world.

Our indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully set up for open-ended interactions, risk-taking, spontaneity, and meaningful interactions. Children can move freely between indoors and outdoors in an unhurried way – supported to pursue their own interests and feel a sense of belonging.

Our abundant veggie garden helps foster an interest in fresh, healthy food and sustainability. Children participate in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Gardening Program, which boosts your child’s knowledge, confidence and skills in gardening and cooking.

Seeing plants grow and change through the seasons helps children understand and respect nature.

Through healthy, fun and tactile experiences with planting, watering, growing, harvesting, eating, and preparing organic produce, children will learn an array of life lessons.

Opportunities to sample new foods, flavours and experiences help fussy eaters be more willing to try new foods, at child care/kinder and at home.

Surrounded by leafy trees and our picking garden and orchard, children at our centre take full advantage of our bike track. Bike riding helps children develop balance and boost cardiovascular and body strength and control. Enjoying physical activity in nature is also bountiful in benefits for children’s emotional regulation and wellness.

Having a welcoming space for families is a priority for our service. Our multi-purpose room is a unique space to play during wet weather, enjoy enriching incursions, and host families and the wider community.

Throughout the year, we invite families to join us for special events like Mother’s Day and Grandparents’ Day to maintain strong community connections.

Our incursions help children:

  • learn about new things
  • better understand the world around them
  • feel inspired
  • connect with others
  • build relationships
  • appreciate different cultures and ways of life.

Our indoor spaces are thoughtfully set up to create a safe and welcoming space for children.

We use only the highest quality, sustainable and natural resources that promote open-ended play and exploration. Materials are easily accessible to support children’s independence and autonomy.

Our educators carefully plan the environment with experiences that provoke curiosity and cater to children’s individual interests.
